The first Slow Food Weekend, held on Friday August 21 to Sunday August 23, was a runaway success.

As expected, the event was fully booked with food-lovers keen to soak up the experiences we had organised, all taking place at Tanah Marah.

Walk Talk Taste

Kellie Tannock of Walk Talk Taste Margaret River hosted an alfresco campfire lunch in karri forrest next to the Bramley Brook which was very well received.

Kellie said, “West Australians who normally look for adventures overseas are still craving new experiences. The great success of the Slow Food Weekend was that we were able to give them just that. It’s so exciting to see visitors seeing Margaret River through new eyes and adventures which are truly fresh, authentic and fulfilling.”

Dumplings of Caucasus

In the afternoon, guests donned their aprons to learn how to make a variety of dumplings from the Caucasus region near Azerbaijan, taught by the very talented Samira Damirova.

Afterwards they sat down to a magnificent dumpling feast  accompanied by local wines.

A great time was had by all so we’re doing it again!

Guests said, “We had the most amazing time. It was really nice to sit back and listen to well thought out articulate stories about the area and the food and wine. The presenters were knowledgeable and the mixed group, whom we had never met, were really good company.”

An excellent time was had by all and we’re already receiving enquiries about the next Slow Food Weekend, which will be held Friday October 30 to Sunday November 1.
